Four Cuffed When Police Check Out Drug Activity At Lewisburg Hotel

$50,000 bail set for a woman rounded up after police checked out a report of drugs in a Lewisburg hotel room. In all, four people were arrested after police found heroin, meth, syringes and digital scales, plus cash in the room. They’re identified as Carrie Palmer, 41, of White Sulphur Springs, Leslie Wright-Reyes, 37, of Covington, VA and Dana Scott, 42, of Ronceverte, also, Joshua Maddy, 27, of Asbury was arrested and charged with a parole violation. All for suspects were taken to the Southern Regional Jail. Wright-Reyes and Scott are being held on $5,000 bond each. Palmer’s bond was set at $50,000.

Barrel Company Ready To Break Ground In White Sulphur Springs

Construction on the West Virginia Great Barrel Company (WVGBC) will be starting soon in White Sulphur Springs. The company has nailed down $34 million in financing for the project. By the middle of next year, the hope is they’re pumping out 182,000 barrels annually and hope to eventually grow to a capacity that would double that amount. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in the middle of next month.

Man Running For Sheriff To Be Extradicted To Virginia

Mark Alan Robinson is running for Greenbrier County Sheriff, but he’s been extradicted to Augusta County, Virginia for violating a protective order. Robinson was picked up on the charge and authorities from Virginia will come here within ten days to bring him to Virginia. No word on the specifics of how he violated the order.

Various Projects In Greenbrier County Receive $750,000 In Funding

More than $750,000 is headed to Greenbrier County to fund various projects. The money comes from the ATransportation Alternatives and Recreational Trails Program from the Federal Highway Administration. Lewisburg is receiving $200,000 for construction of a sidewalk from Lafayette Street to North to Foster Street. Linwood Alive Inc. is getting $500,000 for a one mile sidewalk to the intersection of Route 219. The USDA Forest Service is receiving $20,000 to build 2.2 linear miles of trails along the abandoned Halfway Run road bed to connect Greenbrier River and Marlin Mountain Trail, and the Greenbrier River Trails Assoc.gets $42,400 to replace some facilities.

Beckley Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash

A morocyle crash on I-77 has claimed the life of a Beckley man. Authorities say it happened Thursday night at about 7:30 near mile marker 51. The victim is identified as Randall Lagowski. No other vehicles were involved. Services for Lagowksi are being held Saturday at 1pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.

Discounts For Veterans And Military Personnel At WV Parks

West Virginia State Parks are offering a discount to veterans and military personnel for a couple of weeks next month. The parks will give a 50 percent discount to veterans and military personnel at some lodges and cabins between Nov. 1 and Nov. 15. Greenbrier is among the parks offering the discount.

Greenbrier County Miner Dies In Accident

A 33 year old man is dead following a mining incident in Greenbrier County. The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety, and Training, says it happened Wednesday at the Princess Polly Anna & JCT Enterprises LLC, Surface Mine #1. They say Roger Herndon, an auger helper from Rainelle died when he was hit in the side by a piece of auger drill steel. The accident is under investigation.

Fire In Rainelle Early Wednesday

Fire reported in Rainelle early Wednesday. Fire crews were called out to a home at 6th and Surbaugh Streets. They say the owner wasn’t home at the time and there were no injuries but they’re still determining if a pet may have been insdie at the time. No word on a cause for the fire. Personnel from the Rupert, Quinwood and Rainelle Fire Departments responded to the fire.

Man Sought In Shooting Arrested

Bail set at $50,000 for a man who had been sought in connection with a shooting in Greenbrier County. A man wanted in connection to a shooting in Greenbrier County. Police caught up with Jeffrey Blackburn on Wednesday…the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Rainelle PD all in a joint effort. Blackburn was wanted for shooting Steven Dunn on Oct. 8, 2018. He is charged with malicious wounding.

USDA Money Headed TO Greenbrier County

The Greenbrier County Health Alliance is receiving $50,000 of a $300,000 grant for economic development projects. The money ceoms from the USDA and locally, the money is earmarked for the “Waste Not/Want Not” gleaning project. This is a project that gives surplus produce and goods to those in need. Officials say the program also serves as an educational resource for the community. The grant will also support a community kitchen at the Montwell Commons in Lewisburg that is in the beginning stages of design and could open by spring of next year.
